Storytime: Rain Train

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Rain Train is another book that children preschool aged through Kindergarten may enjoy hearing read aloud. The text is fun, jumpy, and full of sound affects. The author seems to have effectively written the text to match the cadence of a train! Quite fun to read aloud!

As well, the illustrations are nicely drawn and support the text very effectively as rain drops pour down the pages and thunder and lightening punctuate a few pages here and there....just in time for your smallest one to snuggle into your lap just a bit more.

This book may be a nice way to help children overcome a fear of storms or for children who simple love trains, this book may be one you wish to add to their book collection insha'Allaah. A member of the family who is particularly good with sound effects may be happy to volunteer to read this book and bring the story off of the pages. He/she may have incredible fun saying 'Tiisshhhhhh' as the train pulls into the station or they may enjoy rocking their attentive reader back and forth gently as the train goes 'clippety clap, clippety clap' along the rails.

I also found it quite wonderful to note that when the thunder and lightening appear in the story, the reader can easily and appropriately pause and teach the dua that we say when we hear thunder, thus children will learn this dua in context if the area they live in is not currently experiencing storms.

If you are a teacher, this is certainly a book you may wish to add to your personal library to use for storytime...waallaahu a'lam.
